Surcharging allows you to pass on the cost of certain credit card processing fees to your customers. This can be a great way to save money each month.
If you are interested in enabling the ability to surcharge credit card transactions, there are some key points to consider.
  • You should provide 30 days' notice to MasterCard of your intent to surcharge Credit Card transactions. Other brands do not require notice.
  • ALL payments accepted using credit cards (not debit cards or ACH transactions) will incur the surcharge.
  • Because of surcharge rules, all users will see the term "Surcharge" whether they are using a credit card or not.
  • Check for any restrictions on surcharging in your business location. At present, surcharging is not allowed in Connecticut or Massachusetts.
  • In the event you decide to stop surcharging, you will need to contact Tabs3Pay Support to cancel the surcharging merchant account and create a new account without surcharging.
  • To learn more about surcharging, please visit this FAQ.
